Aqua Peak 190 & Aqua Peak 400 (Den intelligente løsning)

“Make sure your punctuation hangs in your pull quotes.”

To understand how we can create the purest drinking water in your home, we must first look at one of nature’s most fundamental processes. Osmosis is a biological and chemical reaction that occurs naturally throughout nature. In short, osmosis is all about balance.

Imagine a liquid divided into two chambers by a thin wall – a so-called semi-permeable membrane. This membrane acts like an ultra-fine mesh. The holes in the mesh are so small that water molecules can easily pass through, while larger particles such as salt, sugar and minerals are retained.

If one chamber contains pure water and the other chamber contains water with a high concentration of salt, nature will automatically try to equalize the difference. The water molecules will automatically seek through the membrane into the chamber with the salt water to dilute it. This natural migration continues until the concentration or pressure on both sides is in perfect balance.

Osmosis in everyday life and nature

You actually experience osmosis all the time in your daily life without even thinking about it:

  • Plants: When you water your houseplants, the roots absorb water from the soil via osmosis. The soil has a lower concentration of dissolved substances than the cells inside the plant, so the water is sucked in.
  • Your cells: The human body relies heavily on osmosis to transport fluid and nutrients in and out of our cells so we don’t dehydrate.
  • Raisins in water: If you put a dry raisin in a glass of water, it will swell after a few hours. The water penetrates through the raisin’s skin to balance out the high sugar content inside.

How does reverse osmosis filtration work?

The principle behind an RO system is to reverse nature’s own processes using mechanical water pressure. The tap water is pressed through a series of pre-filters and finally through an ultra-fine, semi-permeable membrane. The pores in this membrane are only 0.0001 microns. It is so microscopic that virtually only pure H₂O water molecules can physically pass through. Heavy metals, chemicals and limescale are simply too large and are discharged directly into your drain.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Osmosis is nature’s own process, where water automatically seeks out impurities and salt to equalize a concentration. Reverse osmosis (RO) turns this process 180 degrees. Using mechanical water pressure, the impure water is instead pressed through an ultra-tight membrane, so that the impurities are sorted out, and only the 100% pure water comes through.

The membrane acts as a sieve at the molecular level. The pores in the filter are extremely small – down to 0.0001 microns. It is so small that virtually only pure water molecules (H₂O) can physically pass through. Bacteria, viruses, lime, PFAS and other impurities are simply too large and are effectively retained.

Yes, the system removes almost everything, including inorganic calcium and magnesium. However, it is a widespread myth that we need minerals from our drinking water. The human body is biologically designed to absorb its healthy, organic minerals through food (vegetables, nuts, whole grains, etc.) – not from inorganic stone and lime residues in tap water.

Water’s most important function is hydration and transport. It delivers fluids to your cells and flushes waste products out of your body. The purer and more free of foreign substances your water is, the better and more efficiently it can perform this vital cleansing process in your body.
